Get your taxes done using TurboTax
1) For out of state purchases...Once you have made an entry, you need to say "yes" you made purchases, and then once you get in, you delete, or change your entries. Just selecting "No" will not delete them once something has been entered in there.
2) Not sure what you mean here. Usable "itemized" deductions transfer automatically from Federal to state, so you need to enter all your Itemized Deductions first.
..........2a) Except for MFS people, TTX chooses the best option for you...if you have an option. If your Federal is Std Deduction, then you must use Std Deduction on the NC tax return.....if you used Itemized Deductions in the Federal section, then you can use either Std..or..Itemized on the NC tax return. but Online software users cannot actually change it themselves.
...2b) IF you are filing SIngle, or MFJ, and your NC tax software selected STD ded for you and you want to see what your NC 'Itemized" would be. Save a copy of your tax return to a PDF, but do one for your record, with all forms and worksheets. Then open the PDF file, scroll down to the NC section and look for the "Standard / Itemized Deduction Worksheet" and the first two figures there will show you the two $$ amounts possible. The itemized figures on the D-400 Sch S (lines 15-to-23) won't fill in if the Std Ded has been selected, but you could test-fill them in yourself on paper if you want to see what you would get there if you were able to use "itemized"
