That means that you paid in more tax than you owe. You can get the over paid amount back as a refund.

If you have filed your return, it is too late to change it. If you have not yet filed your return, go through the File menu again and change your answer.

What was the question you said No to? Was it if you wanted to apply your overpayment to next year? I think No would be the right answer so you get your refund now.

The refund (overpayment) is the result of this year's taxes. You are already getting the refund. Or by this year do you mean 2017? You can apply your refund to next year's taxes we do in 2018 (for 2017) or get it now. Most people want it now.

Then do NOT apply it to next year. If you said no then that was the right answer and you don't need to change it. Read the screens carefully.

If you say to apply it to next year they will keep your refund as an estimated payment towards next year's return.
