Get your taxes done using TurboTax
A consolidated form 1099 received from your brokerage firm is basically several forms rolled into one document:
- Form 1099-B - stock transactions
- Form 1099-DIV - dividends paid
- Form 1099-INT - interest paid
- Form 1099-OID - Original Issue Discount
- Form 1099-MISC- Reports other type of income (unusual)
To enter information from the 1099-DIV, 1099-INT, and 1099-OID sections:
- Click on Federal Taxes > Wages & Income. [In TT Home & Biz: Personal > Personal Income > I’ll choose what I work on.]
- Scroll down to the Interest and Dividends section and click on the Start/Revisit box next to appropriate category.
- Enter the information and continue through the rest of the interview.
To enter information from the 1099-B section:
You'll enter this under the Federal Taxes tab (or Personal, if working in TurboTax Self-Employed/Home & Business), then select Wages & Income, then Investment Income, then Stocks, Mutual Funds, Bonds, Other. Follow the prompts to enter the 1099-B information.
Alternatively, if you search for the 1099-B and click on the Jump to link, it will also start the interview on that.
