You can sign up on that link I posted. It's for everyone.
The Online version you created an account for is only for 2016 returns. Did you already do 2016? You can't use it to enter 2017 info. If you don't want to sign up for the Advantage account you can start checking in November when they release the 2017 program.
See this FAQ, it says 2016 but they haven't changed it yet to say 2017
