Get your taxes done using TurboTax
If your parents could claim you as a dependent on their return, you won't be able to claim yourself (even if they choose not to claim you). [IRS Pub. 17, p. 25]
Note this information in the Personal Info section of TurboTax:
- Click on the Personal Info tab.
- Click on Edit next to your name.
- In section #3, mark the box that Someone else can claim me on their tax return.
- Then mark whether that your parent(s) will claim you on their 2019 return.
- Continue with the rest of the return.
