Get your taxes done using TurboTax

It is up to you to e-file your tax returns and follow up to see if the returns were accepted.   You do not mention when you e-filed.   Sometimes if a user tries to e-file very early in the tax season, their states are not yet accepting returns and you have to go back later to e-file the state even if you e-filed the federal return.

And...if you owed tax due to the state, your only proof that you paid is your own bank or credit card record.   It is not possible to pay the state tax due from a federal refund.  You either need to pay the state directly on the state website, mail them a check or money order, or for a few states, allow the state to direct debit your bank account.

When you e-file your return you will get two emails from TurboTax.  The first one will say your return has been transmitted; the second one will tell you the IRS has accepted  or rejected your federal e-file.  If you filed a state return, there will be a third email (usually a day or two later) that tells you if the state e-file was accepted or rejected.

A 2023 return cannot be e-filed.  The only way to file it now is by mail.  You will need to print it, sign and date it in ink, and mail it to the state.   If you still owe tax due to the state, pay the amount the state says you owe when you mail it.
