Get your taxes done using TurboTax

Look at your return and see what Federal refund amount is shown on your Federal Form 1040, Line 35a. Is that line $12,582?
Do not go by a summary figure that TurboTax gave you on a screen. That screen is a combined figure of the Federal and state refunds.
NOTE: If you are getting a state refund, it comes separately.
Did you pay your TurboTax fees upfront, or did you choose to pay the fees out of the Federal refund?
If you chose to pay them out of the Federal refund, subtract the amount of the fees from the original refund figure and an additional $40 service fee for that option ($45 for California filers.)
So if $12,582 is the amount shown on your Form 1040, Line 35a, and if the $450 difference in the amount you received cannot be explained by the amount of a state refund (if any) and/or your TurboTax fees (if you chose to pay out of refund), then that implies that the IRS lowered your refund amount. If they did so, they will send you a letter in about 3 weeks explaining why and what recourse, if any, you have.
If you DID choose to pay the fees out of the Federal refund, the deposit would not have been directly from the IRS/US Treasury, but would be from a company SBTPG (Santa Barbara Tax Products Group) or its third-party bank, that handles that fee payment method. You can see who the payer was in the deposit information in your bank account. If you DID use that method to pay fees, you can look up your refund information on the SBTPG refund lookup tool to see if it shows what they received from the IRS. Use the "For Taxpayers" portal at:
