@Edwinr407 If you realize that you could be claimed as a dependent for 2023, here is how to change your 2023 return:
Go to MY INFO. Click your name. Go through the screens for the question that asks if someone else can claim you as a dependent. Say YES.
Then....print, sign and date your return on page 2 next to the words "Sign here" and mail the return in. E-filing is closed. You cannot e-file a 2023 return.
When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s. Use a mailing service that will track it, such as certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.
Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses. Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.
