You could ask your employer and insurer who paid your maternity leave if it was "paid family leave." It does not sound like it should reported as such after you enter your
W-2 from your employer.
Paid Family Leave is taxed differently than other paid time off like sick pay or paid medical leave.
In most circumstances, you would have received a Form 1099-G for paid family leave.
Per IRS guidelines, amounts paid to employees as family leave benefits are included in the employee's gross income but are not wages for federal employment tax purposes. The state must report these payments on Form 1099 if they total $600 or more in any taxable year.
Some states include maternity leave as part of their paid family leave program.
Paid family leave is a state program, with 13 states and the District of Columbia having enacted mandatory paid family leave systems, providing job-protected, paid time off for bonding with a new child, caring for family members, or assisting with military deployments.
