@rocopo1 So sorry for your loss.    For the year she passed, 2023, you can file a joint tax return and use the married filing jointly standard deduction of $27,700 (+$1500 for each spouse 65 or older).   If you still have dependent children or step-children then you may file as a Qualifying Surviving Spouse and you will still get the standard deduction for a joint return.  If you do not have qualifying dependent children to claim, you will file as Single and your standard deduction will be $14,600 for 2024 + $1950 if you are 65 or older.
