No one can call you from the user forum. When you purchase the desktop download software, it can include the software download for ONE specific state of your choosing. You can prepare and e-file up to five federal returns along with the state returns that go with them for that specific state. If you need an additional different state, you pay about $40 more for the second state download. If you are e-filing for someone who moved, works in one state, lived in another state, etc. then you can e-file their federal return and both of their state returns together. It says "3 states" because it is possible for some people to need another --third---different state download.
