Sorry that part I said about registering is for something else. You don’t have to register, I never do. But how did you install 2023? Open 2023 and see if you are signed into an Account.
Starting in 2023 you needed to sign in or create an account to install the Desktop program. Under the File tab it shows the account you signed into. You can sign out if you want, but you will need to sign in again to e-file, update, or install states.
