@sandi-kinzer Were you a "household employee?"   Did you work as a nanny, a babysitter in the people's home, as house cleaner, gardener.....?   That would explain why they said they do not have to issue a W-2 if you made less than $2700.    

 

People who hire Household Employees are required to issue W-2's if they paid the employee $2700 or more.   If you were paid less ----and you say it was about $459 --- then they were not obligated to issue a W-2 to you.   You can report this on your tax return as self-employment income since it is over $400, and pay self-employment  tax for Social Security and Medicare.
