No.....not HoH,

You file as Married Filing Joint (MFJ) even if your spouse has zero income for the year.

HOH would have a lower Std Ded and other limitations, and requires that you supported a "non-spouse", but since you were married in 2024, and are presumably living together (ignoring hospital stays), you could only file MFJ or MFS for 2024.

 

Medical expenses you both paid, that were not reimbursed by insurance, can all go in as part of your potential "itemized" deductions, but those out-of-pocket medical expenses will be limited to the amount over 7.5% of your combined AGI......but even then, you get the LARGER of your Std Deduction, or Itemized Deductions for the tax year.
