Get your taxes done using TurboTax
E-filing is permanently closed for 2023 returns. The only way to file your 2023 return is by mail. There was no extra fee to e-file. When you use online TurboTax, the fee is the same whether you e-file or file it by mail in an envelope--so you are not paying extra money to mail your tax return unless you object to the cost of the postage. Sorry---many rejections are for AGI ---sometimes the AGI does not make it into the IRS system, especially if you file late or amend, etc. So the workaround for that is often to try using "zero" as AGI in order to e-file successfully. Apparently that did not work out for you either.
You will need to print, sign and date your 2023 return in ink, and mail it in. If you are getting a refund or do not owe any tax due, there is no penalty for filing past the deadline. If you owe tax due, you will be billed later by the IRS/state for the late penalties and interest owed.
When you mail a tax return, you need to attach any documents showing tax withheld, such as your W-2’s or any 1099’s. Use a mailing service that will track it, such as UPS or certified mail so you will know the IRS/state received the return.
Federal and state returns must be in separate envelopes and they are mailed to different addresses. Read the mailing instructions that print with your tax return carefully so you mail them to the right addresses.
