When you are entering your personal information in the My Info section of the program you are asked for your status for filing. You need to select Married and then select that you will be filing the return with your spouse. When entering your spouse's information there will be a screen asking several questions concerning the spouse. One will be if the spouse has passed away. Select that they passed away and then enter the date of their passing.
Click on My Info on the left side of the online program screen if you are using the TurboTax online web-based editions.
