Get your taxes done using TurboTax

Your standard deduction is higher if one or both spouses on a joint return are 65 or older, or if someone is legally blind.  It goes by your age at the end of 2023---not by a birthday you recently had in 2024.  Check your dates of birth as entered in My Info.

Your standard deduction lowers your taxable income. The standard deduction makes some of your income “tax free.”  It is not a refund.  You will see your standard or itemized deduction amount on line 12 of your 2023 Form 1040.
