Depending on exactly when she changed her last name with SS  (she did, didn't she?)...it can take a few months for the IRS computers to get updated with the new last name.

 

If your e-file gets rejected for her Name-SS# being a mis-match, you could either wait until the end of Feb or March and try again....or go back to the Personal Info section, and change back to her maiden name....run the error checks and review, and then try to e-file again.

If you were recently just married (i.e. sometime during 2023), and you both filed as being single for 2022, make sure you get your individual 2022 tax returns printed out before e-filing...you will need each of your respective AGIs from those files in order to e-file for 2023.

 

If instead, you were married in a year earlier than 2023, and filed MFJ for 2022 taxes, then your AGI for e-filing 2023 is the same AGI from your 2022 MFJ tax return.
