You can do that and come back later to e-file the state. But are you aware that the IRS will not accept/reject federal returns until January 29? So e-filing now just puts your federal return on a server where it will be trapped for a couple of weeks, during which you can do absolutely nothing to change it if you discover you made a mistake.
