A Form 8962, Premium Tax Credit is only completed if you have healthcare coverage from one of the State Marketplace Exchanges or from healthcare.gov and you received a Form 1095-A for the coverage.
If you did receive a Form 1095-A you enter the form in the TurboTax program and the software completes the Form 8962 for you.
To enter your Form 1095-A -
- Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home and Business)
- Click on Deductions and Credits
- Click on I'll choose what I work on (if shown)
- Scroll down to Medical
- On Affordable Care Act (Form 1095-A), click the start or update button
Or enter 1095-a in the Search box located in the upper right of the program screen. Click on Jump to 1095-a
If you did not receive a Form 1095-A and mistakenly said that you did then you need to delete that form.
Click on Tax Tools on the left side of the online program screen
Click on Tools
Click on Delete a form
