IF you need a detailed answer...you're going to have to tell us which state's tax return you are asking about....because each state that has an income tax, has different forms for filing PY tax returns.

Generally though, when doing a Part-Year tax return for most states....you indicate what sub-portion of your yearly income was earned while living in that particular state...in the PY-column. So you check you records as to when exactly you moved....and total the income received, relative to when you were a resident in that state
