Get your taxes done using TurboTax

There is no fee to e-file your return when you use online TurboTax software.  The fee is the same whether you e-file the return or mail it in an envelope.

If you choose to pay your TurboTax fees by having the fees deducted from your federal refund instead of paying upfront using a credit card before you file, you incur a "refund processing fee" of $39--or $45 if you are in CA.   The fee is NOT for e-filing-----it is for using a third party bank to receive your refund, extract your fees to pay TT, and send you the rest.

If you use desktop software---the CD/download----you have to pay a fee to e-file a state return.   If you print and mail the state return instead of e-filing it, you can avoid the state e-file fee and just pay for a stamp and an envelope.   The desktop software includes the software for preparing the state return.  E-filing the return is what causes the extra state e-file fee.   Before March 1, the state e-file fee is $20; after March 1 the state e-file fee increases to $25.
