You may have selected the pay-with-your-refund option (also known as Refund Processing) rather than choosing to pay
your fees with a debit or credit card. The FAQ below can give you more

If you don’t want to
worry about getting your wallet out, Refund Processing lets you pay by
deducting the fee from your refund and then sending the balance to your
account.
Please
note that once your e-filed return is in pending or accepted status, it's too late to
remove the Refund Processing Service.
