I forgot to add my 1099-NEC to my Tax Return so I've completed the Amended Federal Tax Return and now I also need to complete and mail IL-1040-X form. So, I noticed that this form requires a copy of the Federal 1040X form and also proof of federal finalization.
In the instructions for the IL-1040-X form, it says such words about the proof of federal finalization:
- If your federal change resulted in a balance due, proof of federal finalization includes a copy of your federal Form 1040X and a copy of the check you sent to the IRS to pay the tax due. If you do not have a copy of this notification, please contact the IRS to request a tax account transcript.
I didn't use a check for the IRS as I was using an e-file of Amended Federal Tax Return on TurboTax. So, in my case, I guess I need to attach a tax account transcript as an alternative...
But you said that... "It will not have the amending information"... I don't understand this process then... If it will never have the amending information then how it is possible to use it as proof of federal finalization for IL--1040-X?
I think it just doesn't make sense to print and attach an 'account transcript' without amending info as proof of finalization...
How am I able to complete my IL-1040-X form in this case??
