Get your taxes done using TurboTax
I’m assuming you are using TurboTax CD/Download because you mentioned TurboTax is asking you to purchase New Hampshire.
Try a few things.
Delete New Hampshire. If you went through the New Hampshire section, TurboTax may still show it as unfinished.
- Tap File in the top left corner
- Select Remove State Return
- In the pop up box, highlight New Hampshire and select Remove
- Select the State Taxes tab, then tap Continue on “Let’s work on your state return”
- On “Your State Returns” tap Done with States
If New Hampshire was your daughter’s only state return, try bypassing State Taxes altogether by tapping Review.
New Hampshire has no income tax but a 5% tax is assessed on interest and dividend income.
Please note, recently enacted legislation phases out the Interest and Dividends (I&D) Tax starting at 4% for taxable periods ending on or after December 31, 2023, 3% for taxable periods ending on or after December 31, 2024, 2% for taxable periods ending on or after December 31, 2025, and 1% for taxable periods ending on or after December 31, 2026.
The I&D Tax is then repealed for taxable periods beginning after December 31, 2026.
