Get your taxes done using TurboTax
TurboTax will ask initial interview questions about you and your spouse if filing Married Filing Joint. To get the child and dependent care credit, both spouses must earn income, be full-time students, or be disabled.
As @xmasbaby0 stated, you will want to ensure you have all the information for your child filled out in the dependent section of My Info in TurboTax.
To Enter the Dependent Care Credit in TurboTax, follow these steps:
- Click Deductions & Credits
- Answer the interview questions about you and your spouse's working status
- Your dependent's name should be listed under the box. Choose who received the care you paid for from the list below. Remember, you can claim the dependent care expenses if your child is under the age of 13.
- If your child's name is not listed, you can select Add Another Person. This will move you back to the dependent screen.
- Verify your child is entered correctly.
