There is no extra fee to "file federal and state together". Did you choose the refund processiing fee to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund? That fee is for having a third party bank take out the TT fees and send you the rest. It is an extra $39.99 ($44.99 in CA). If you pay upfront with a credit card you do not have to pay that extra processing fee.
