The extension will be automatic, as long as you already had an existing extension to the original 17 Oct deadline.

Usually that is granted based on the address on the tax return...but not sure what they are doing for those who were wiped out and forced to move to, and file from a non-disaster area.

Given past similar situations:

1) You will not be able to "Efile" it using TurboTax after mid-October, using either the Online or the Desktop software.  Only some local professional tax preparers would be able to e-file after the original 17 Oct deadline.

2)  You can still paper file 2021 taxes by mail using TTX after 17 October...BUT...you would have to download/install/and use the desktop/download software on a full MAC or Windows computer.    Be sure to download yoru .tax2021 data file for use in the desktop software, before the end of October so that you can use that file after that date.   The file will probably be available after this month...but..there is usually a dead period during November (2-4 weeks or so, but not determined exactly) where the file cannot be downloaded by anyone.  But be forewarned....mail-filed taxes can take months to get processed, and that will depend on how successful the IRS is in hiring new process folks between now and the time you actually file.
