Did you receive a letter from the IRS? If so, what tax year is the IRS referring to in the letter? What is the IRS letter number which us usually posted in the upper right of the first page and preceded by either a CP or LTR?
Do you have taxes owed on the 2021 tax return? If so, those taxes were due and payable on April 18, 2022 and if not paid penalties and interest are accruing until paid.
You cannot file an extension now as the deadline for filing the extension was April 18, 2022.
