Where does the 1099Q go?

My son received a 1099Q. He is 19. I am claiming him as a dependent. I did the 1098T on my returns. Do I need to amend my return to add the 1099Q? Do I file a return for him with the 1099Q? Where does it go?

Since you claimed your son as a dependent then you would amend your return and add the 1099-Q to your tax return.  See below on how to amend and where to enter your 1099-Q

The statement about claiming a dependent than I need to add 1099-Q on my tax return - is this true as well if a grandparent was the owner of the tuition plan?  In other words, I claimed my daughter as a dependent, she will be filing her own taxes as she worked part-time in 2016 and may be due a refund, but her grandparent owned the education savings plan.  The 1099-Q does have her name and SSN on it though.  So, does she enter the 1099-Q information, her grandparent, or me (since I claimed her as dependent)?  Thanks for your help.

If you are claiming her as a dependent then you would file the 1099-Q on your return.
