Where do I enter 1098-T Box 1?

Where do I enter 1098-T Box 1? The screen where I think it should be has an already-populated "$0" for "Tuition and enrollment fees".

If you have already entered your 1098-T:

  1. Open your return.
  2. In upper right corner in the search box, type 1098-T and select the Jump to link at the top of your search results.
  3. You will see your entry for your 1098-T, Click Edit.
  4. On the screen that show’s Here’s Your Education Summary, Click Edit.
  5. Follow the onscreen questions, until you get to your entry for your 1098-T, where you can make adjustments on Line 1.

To enter your 1098-T:

  1. Open your return.

  3. On the Do you want to enter your higher education expenses? screen, answer Yes.
  4. Answer Yes to Did you get a 1098-T for the year? and Continue.
  5. On the next screen, you can choose how you'd like to add your 1098-T. You can upload a digital copy from your computer or type it in yourself. Select which option you'd like and Continue.
  6. Follow the onscreen instructions.

Sorry, this response was not helpful.

When I click on the 1098-T jump link, I'm taken to a screen where the "Tuition and enrollment fees" line item is already populated with "$0" with no ability to edit it.

When going to this screen, there is no question that asks "Did you get a 1098-T for the year?" It simply says that Tuition and Enrollment fees are $0, and there is no way to edit this. The hyperlink for Tuition and enrollment fees states that  this number was entered earlier. So, where does this number get entered?

I'm not using the online form, but I have the purchased software installed. So do I still need to delete a form in the software?

You can click on Forms at the top right. This toggles between Form input and Step-by-Step input.

On the left side is a list of forms, highlight 1098-T

On the bottom is the delete button

You can also clear box 1 from this screen.

It is also possible to manually enter the amount from the 1098-T into this screen.

I have the exact same issue.  My "Tuition and enrollment fees" shows $0. I cannot change it and there is no 1098-T in the forms.

When I click the "Tuition and enrollment fee" the description says...

"Note: You entered this number earlier"

But I never got a chance to enter it at all and cannot.

Please help.

Pease go through the education interview from wherever the program starts you until the end of the interview, then see if you can straighten things out.

Please be sure to enter your Personal Information FIRST, then your income, then go into the Education Section under Deductions & Credits.

After you get through the ENTIRE education interview, see if a 1098-T is listed. If so, delete it and start over.

When you are finished, you should be able to see the credit that was taken by typing   letme    into the search-box then clicking the "Jump to letme" link.
