Service Academy Computer EQ deduction.

Keeps asking for an EIN.  There is no 1098-T because there is no fees and tuition.  There is a required Computer EQ purchase of $2600.  I entered address and name of college.  NO EIN available since it was purchased at the Navel Exchange.  Can I still take this deduction based on this?

It depends. Use this link to check if your education institution is included in the eligible institutions list from FAFSA.gov.

Secondly, you can try this IRS interactive tax assistance. It does not take long and is online: Am I eligible to claim an education credit?

I have contacted the IRS and confirm that this is an eligible tax credit.  Turbo Tax will not allow it to be take because it says that an EIN number is required.  How can I confirm this information or is this just a glitch in software?
