Here are the steps in TurboTax online:

  • Sign in to your account, select Pick up where you left off
  • At the right upper corner, in the search box, type in "1098t" and Enter
  • Select Jump to 1098t
  • Follow prompts
  • On screen, " Do any of these uncommon situations apply to your loan", select "The seller is financing this loan and we didn't receive a 1098", then Continue
  • Follow the prompts to enter your mortgage info

The bank is the lender and interest was under $600 and a 1098 was not issued. Where do I enter it on Turbotax?

The information provided by Pattif above is correct.

You Begin by entering the information as though you received the 1098:

  1. Under the Federal menu, choose Deductions & Credits
  2. Expand the menu for Your Home
  3. Click Start/Revisit next to Mortgage Interest and Refinancing (Form 1098)
  4. Enter the lender information
  5. On the following screen, choose The seller is financing this loan and we didn't receive a 1098
  6. Complete the information on the screens that follow

Just want to be clear. I purchased my home from an individual and financed with a bank. Does "The seller is financing this loan and we didn't receive a 1098" mean the bank?  Thanks for your help.

I am assuming that you DID finance through a bank.  Is that correct?  If you financed with a bank, use the bank's name in the "Lender name" box.  On the next page, mark 'None of the above" when the question asks "Do any of these situations apply?"
