Does EMS academy to get EMS certification count as school

Can I use this as a deductible since I paid for more education and will upgrade soon? It is an accredited program and some people can take an equivalent program at a technical college

There’s no deduction unless the school is an eligible education institution. See here.

Regular W-2 employees are no longer (since 2018) allowed to deduct job expenses, including education.

If the courses were taken at a recognized college or vocational school (educational institutions eligible to participate in the student aid programs administered by the Department of Education),  you can, instead,  take the Lifetime Learning Credit (but not the American Opportunity credit). For the tuition credit, "equivalent program" is not good enough.

Enter your school at the link below, to see if it's on the dept. of education list.
