Can't enter 1098-T, why is this section missing?

I entered this last year and now there's not even an option to enter the information, what happened? I may use a different tax preparing software..

I am having the same issue using TurboTax Deluxe.  It totally skips over the screen where you need to enter in the 1098-T information and takes me to the books, materials, and other expenses.  I can not go back or delete the information I've already entered.  It displays "$0" for tuition and notes that I already enter this amount.  I even deleted my return and started over in a new one but that did not solve the issue.  Completely frustrating.  Although I do not have an answer for the issue.....you are not alone.

Start by going to the Education section of your return using these steps:

  • On the top row of the TurboTax online screen, click on Search (or for CD/downloaded TurboTax locate the search box in the upper right corner)
  • This opens a box where you can type in “education” (be sure to enter exactly as shown here) and click the magnifying glass (or for CD/downloaded TurboTax, click Find)
  • The search results will give you an option to “Jump to education
  • Click on the blue “Jump to education” link

Then, if you are not prompted to enter your 1098-T, go through the entire education expenses section (without entering any information yet) of your return until you reach the screen titled “Your Education Expenses Summary”, then follow these steps:

  • Click Edit next to the student name.
  • On the screen titled “Here’s your Education Summary”, click Edit beside Tuition.
  • Enter the information from your Form 1098-T.

Is there a software fix for this?  Here we are May 17 and I just tried and failed to find the 1098-t form.  I can’t imagine there isn’t a patch for this by now.

This section can be confusing.

  • If you already started posting your information you see that the tuition may not have been posted.
  • Continue through the questions until you come to Your Education Expense Summary
  • [EDIT] your name or add a student
  • You will be able to add your 1098-T information here.

Delete the dependent info in the deduction then reenter. It will bring 1098-T form to enter.
