Schedule 3 is a new form in 2018.  This year the 1040 form was completely revised. The 1040A and 1040EZ forms were eliminated.   The 1040 form is now a shorter form and much of the additional information that would be reported on it has been moved to six different schedules (Schedules 1 to 6).

Schedule 3 is where certain nonrefundable credits are reported.  These credits are the child and dependent care expense credit, foreign tax credit, education credits, residential energy credit, retirement savings contribution credit and other general business credits.  in order to have these credits reflected on your tax return, they must be reported on Schedule 3.

Here is a sample of the form:  Schedule 3

Turbo Tax is pulling a fast one on the consumer.  Advertising Free Guaranteed is totally dishonest.  Almost everyone has some type of new schedule they have to attach to get certain credits. Contribute to a 401K?  Then you have to attach the new schedule 3.  Energy Tax Credit?  Child Care Credit?...oops the free file edition is not available to you because you have to file a schedule.  Wont use a company that lies to me.  Going elsewhere to file from now on.

Turbo tax is ripping you off. Sorry sucker. And they just lobbied the IRS and got a bill in the Senate to force the IRS to stop production of free file software so that TurboTax can keep pulling this garbage. And there's nothing you can do about. Lol, right?

Free? HAHAHAHAH  Lies and more lies.

$49.99 for a Schedule 3

$39.99 for a State Return
$39.00 for the ability to use my taxes to pay the other 2 rates.
