Schedule E

I have both and royalties from the same piece of property. I enter two 1099Misc for the amounts but they both keep coming up on the same schedule E form. This preventing me from filing my taxes. I have this same problem every year with turbo tax. How can I override this notification and file my taxes?

How can I talk to a live person instead of trying to navigate this poor site? [email address removed]

You can remove one 1099-MISC and simply enter the second royalty or rental income directly.  See the steps below for assistance and delete one of your 1099-MISCs from your return.

To enter your rental or royalty income:

  1. Open or continue your return.
  2. Navigate to the rentals section:
    • TurboTax Online/Mobile: Go to rentals.
    • TurboTax Desktop: Search for rentals and select the Jump to link.
  3. Answer Yes to the question Did you have any income from rentals or royalties?
  4. On the screen What are you here to report? select the appropriate income
  5. Continue to make your entries on each screen.
    • If you have more than one rental or royalty property to report, no problem—just start with one, and we’ll come back to the other one(s) later.
  6. On the following screens, enter all the info we need about your rental property, including a description of the property, your rental income, any expenses and assets, and other less common situations about your rent.
