How do I "uncheck" boxes while entering a K-1

When you enter your K1, you have a screen that allows you to check all the boxes you may have an entry in.  If you made a selection that you no longer need, you should first make sure those unneeded boxes are clear of any entry (use the delete key to remove any unwanted information).

Next, finish the screens until you land back on the page of K1s to edit. Select Edit next to the K1 where you want to remove the check in unneeded or unwanted boxes. Below is an example of a 1065 K1 and a 1041 K1 screens.

  • Search (upper right) > type k1 > Click the Jump to... Link > Edit next  to your K1 > Continue to a similar screen for selection

For any box that had a check mark in it from when I made my 1st pass with TT, I cannot go back now and uncheck it.  Specifically, I'm trying to uncheck the box for line 16, BUT, none of the other previously checked boxes now can be "unchecked".

Note the after a few following screens, TT once again specifically asks if the box on line 16 of my K-1 is checked, and I answered "No".  But, this doesn't seem to stick since if I go through the screens again my "No" selection is now missing.

When you say "For any box that had a check mark in it from when I made my 1st pass with TT", by 1st pass at the screen Choose Type of Activity, did you select This K-1 reports amounts in more than one of boxes 1,2 and 3?  Or did you do something else?  Please clarify.

See here.

If your K-1 reports amounts in more than one of box 1, 2 or 3, the partnership is involved in more than one type of activity.  Each activity needs to be reported separately in TurboTax.

  • Enter the business activity amount, box 1, on one K-1
  • Enter real estate rental activity amount, box 2, on another K-1.

That will correctly report the two separate activities.
