How do I report a programming issue that I found?

I discovered an issue with the online software, and would like to report it to somebody ... but for the life of me, can't figure out how to do that.

Hi @PattiLKelly  Thanks for posting.  If you'd like to report the problem here, I'll be happy to forward it to TurboTax Moderators for investigation.  Additionally, if you can capture a screenshot of the issue you're reporting, that is always helpful.

Thanks Kat.  Unfortunately, I can't screen shot .... but here's the issue I uncovered.  I think I diagnosed it, so it should hopefully be easy to investigate and fix.

I am using Turbotax online.  I used it last year as well.  Last year, I received a State Refund from North Carolina.  Let's say it was $1,500.

I entered all my data for my Federal return for 2020.   I was expecting a Refund of a certain amount.  Let's say $2,500.  As soon as I began the NC Return, my Federal Refund amount dropped by several hundred dollars to $2,100.

I cleared out all the data, started over, and the same thing happened.  After a lot of investigation, I discovered that by simply starting the NC return, it was adding the State Refund from 2019 AGAIN as income to the Federal return, thus double counting it.  So, instead of $1,500, it was now showing $3,000.  As a result, everything else around it changed, dropping the overall refund for 2020.

Luckily I was able to change it back to the $1,500 and fix the problem on the Federal return, as long as I kept the data I already had in the NC State return.

In Premier, Income, K-1 (1065 form), I want to enter 2 purchase dates for a publicly traded limited partnership which I sold. Some of my units were short term holdings, some long term. The page only allows one purchase date and one sale date. How do I report this problem to Turbotax?

@Dave9999 I'll report this issue to TurboTax Moderators for investigation.

Did you receive only 1 K-1 document for all of your holdings?

Yes, received 1K-1 document from this partnership.

Thanks

When amending my federal tax return to add my 2021 charitable donations, I saw that the amount of money I was to get back from the amended federal tax return increase.  This was expected.  However, I also saw the state (i.e. IL) tax refund increase exactly by the amount of my charitable donations I selected to contribute to as part of my refund (let's say it was 100$).  I am uncertain as to whether this was legitimately due to the charitable donations I added to my federal tax return or due to the fact that TurboTax was not accounting for the part of my state tax return I had chosen to donate to charity (let's say it was 100$).  I highly suspect it is the latter and if so, this should be fixed as I am confused whether to amend my state tax return.

@evoneden You're posting a current question/issue that you have on an old thread.  My suggestion to you would be to contact TurboTax Customer Support during business hours using the info I'm linking below.

What is the TurboTax phone number?

@Kat  I actually did talk to customer support and they advised me to speak with a tax expert since they couldn’t provide an answer to my question.  I was hoping to get this posted as it’s own question in the community to see if I could get a response since I could t find another way.

@evoneden I see.

When you log into the Community, you'll see the option to "Discuss" at the top of the page.  Click on that, then select from several different common categories for discussion.  Once you've done that, you should see the option to "Ask A Question" in a blue bubble.  See the screenshot I'm sharing below.
