If you need to delete your spouses information from your tax return, then you will want to delete your Personal Worksheet so that you can re-enter your personal information. To delete your Personal Worksheet, follow the steps below:
This is no longer true, there is no tools anywhere. Now I have been tricked into paying before being told I cant netfile since I cant erase the spouse info i didnt even mean to keep. I just wanted to see the difference if I was living with my gf. . .
I am having the same problem! Now I have paid and I can't delete the information!
I managed to start my own question, they contacted me by email pretty quickly. I would suggest any who have similar challenges to do the same. 🙂
I had this problem today. I found that what you have to do is pay, try and efile. It will tell you it can't because of the "bad info"... but now -if you log out and back in, on the lower left there is the Tools option they mention previously- I was able to get into the personal forms and delete them. - I had to delete mine and my ex-spouse, then re-enter only my data. But that is MUCH quicker than their answer to "start over", which is ridiculous!!!
I even believe I know why this happens. When you clear out the spouse data in the personal worksheet, it never takes you to the "DAYTIME PHONE" field. So the record isn't completely empty and can't delete it. (stupid mistake on their part). Additionally, when I did the final check for my efile- it was THIS SAME FIELD which it said I had not re-input on my newly created personal worksheet. Go Figure! But once I did that- e-file went without another hitch.
I hope this detail helps someone.
