Yes, TurboTax can e-file that form for 2022 now. You can check Forms availability table for TurboTax individual (personal) tax products if you have questions about any other forms.
When initiating the transfer of my return I'm getting an error saying TurboTax can't e-file because it is unable to locate Form1116ScheduleB.pdf. I completed the questions for the foreign tax credit and the Form 1116 Schedule B is included in my return. I can't figure out how to get around this.
To clarify, check your forms in back of the return by going to tax tools>tools>delete a form. look to see if Form 1116 Schedule B is listed in your list of forms.
When I go to Forms, Forms in my Return, I do see a "Sch B Form 1116", which appears to be completed and accurate.
I do not see a Tax Tools, Tools, Delete a Form option in my menu bar on TurboTax Premier for Windows. However, there is a Tools, My Tax Data, option. Is that what you were referring too. The listing of "My Tax Data" includes "Form and Line", "Data Entered", and "Source" I do not see any mention of Form 1116 Schedule B there. I do see mentions of Form 1116 and the corresponding Worksheet and Explanation Statement. Not sure if that means anything.
Thank you.
I apologize. if you see the "Sch B Form 1116" in the list of forms, then it is there.. Now look at your forms and see if there are red marks on any of SchB Form 1116. Also, you may try deleting the entries you made, including deleting the Schedule B Form 1116 from your list of forms. Then go to online at the top of your program and select click on update.
Next revisit the foreign tax section and reenter the information. Make sure you accurately complete the section Foreign Tax Credit Carryovers so that the amounts will properly reconcile.
I am not aware that a pdf attachment needs to be sent with your tax return. If you perform the steps above and you still receive this efile rejection message, you may need to print and mail your return.
No red marks. No Smart Check errors. The form is complete and accurate based on my understanding of the instructions as filled in by TT.
I don't believe there is any pdf attachment feature available in TT as part of e-file.
You can see from the Community Forum that this error message was in TT 2021 related to this form, before it was supported for e-file. A TT phone rep reported today there is no known reason for that error message to be triggered with this year's version. I suspect this is something that will need to be addressed in an update.
I need to e-file for NY State. I will not print and mail tax forms. If TT does not fix, I will use an alternate vendor and never use TT again.
Working with Product Support a work-around to the problem e-filing a return with Form 1116 Schedule B was found. I am a New York State resident, and the problem may be related to this.
I was able to e-file my return when I e-filed the Federal and NYS return separately.
There was one suggestion that NYS forms are not finalized until 2/9/23 (tomorrow), which prompted me to try just filing the Federal, which went through.
Shortly after I filed NYS return, which to my surprise also went through.
When I try to e-file I am told I cannot because they cannot locate Form 116 Sch B. What should I do?

It might be useful to reach out to the TurboTax support line. If you are filling NY state or another state electronically, it might be helpful to file federal and state separately, which worked for me. I did that while on the phone with Turbo Tax support after trying other things.
Please use the FAQ link below to reach out to TurboTax customer support for assistance:
It worked. After spending a morning with two TT support reps, trying everything they and I could think of, nothing was working and no one understood why. I mentioned your experience of filing returns separately. Having exhausted all other options, we decided to try it. To our complete surprise, it worked. We still do not understand why. But I have filed and both returns were accepted. Go figure.
Thanks to the online community for this recommendation. I am so grateful.

thanks for updating this. i am having the same issue and will try that solution as now I seem to recall the same thing happened last year.
@turbotax, this needs to be fixed
@Zoltan2016 I remember the same error, but don't recall having to file Federal and State separately. I think an version update was needed to fix last year's problem. Are you in NYS? I'm wondering if the problem is limited to NYS filers with Form 1116 Schedule B.
@SalQ I'm glad that worked out for you. Are you a NYS filer too?
@Circlespinner I am in NY. When I read what you said I recalled that last year in October I was at my wits end and I called and they tested a bunch of things and finally just told me to file separately and it worked. But you are probably right, it is probably a NY quirk.
