My tax documents will be getting a new address this year. Switching from Saint Louis, Missouri to Coarsegold, California.  Everything is so different, I'm sure my taxes will fit right in.

I expect retirement including social security plus interest this year to change my tax situation.

My husband died in March 2023.  He was 76.  Married 49 years.  I've got most of the finances, IRA and 401K switched over to me.  Still have some more to do.

I installed additional solar panels on my home.  I'm hoping to be able to get a tax credit.

Unfortunately, I have been diagnosed with stage 4 ovary cancer with metastatic cancers all over her body, including many bones and the breast. My oncologist has given me a terminal diagnosis of a few months to a few years of life left. I am currently doing Chemo treatments and will be bed-ridden for the next 4.5 months because the bone cancer is in my legs and lower back and in other places. After Chemo, there will be surgeries to remove the cancers, then radiation to heal the bones, and other unpleasant things we don't want to think about yet.
Everything depends on whether or not the Chemo improves my condition.

This obviously affects my tax situation with all the medical bills and loss of income along with affected everything else I had worked hard for and that is slipping away.

Changed jobs.  Went from an HDHP with an HSA to a more typical health plan with an FSA.  Signed for a mortgage at the end of September, so that will affect 2024 and beyond taxes.  Phasing out my side hustle.  Student loan payments resume, so I'll be able to declare the interest.  Lots of changes, and Uncle Sam wants the lowdown on all of them.  Lol!

I withdraw all the money from an inherited IRA Account. Although I had 10% tax withheld, it may not be enough. I may have to pay thousand or more additional tax dollars. Hopefully the state doesn’t require tax payment.

Level 1

Due to a lack of knowledge, I've been ordered to pay child support for my daughter whom has always lived with me and I've fully supported from week 4 of pregnancy to today. Up until recently, the mother lived with me 100% as well. She, without my knowledge, unnecessarily applied for welfare and began collecting. Currently fighting for full custody (I have temporary custody pending the outcome). I'm also fighting the support order due to fraud. My childs insurance has changed & so has mine... there is two less dependants (younger brother now in USMC) and the mother who's been ordered to move...and now I am my mother's "attorney-in-fact" so I'm expected to handle 100% of her taxes as well. It's been quite a year, but I'm healthy and in good spirits. Thanks for reading this, best wishes. - T. Brown
