Your tax return is still being processed. A refund date will be provided when available.

Hello,

- I filed my 2019 taxes on March 23rd... I E-Filed my taxes...

- Received the state tax after about a week after I filed...

- Received stimulus payment, they used my 2018 tax Bank information...

- I did NOT receive the federal tax yet, the status is:  Your tax return is still being processed. A refund date will be provided when available.

My question is: if I received the state refund, does that mean that there is no problem with my federal tax? it is just a delay? is there something wrong with submitting the federal tax..

I am asking this question because I was told: as long as you received the state refund, they will send you the federal refund. Otherwise you will never receive any refunds..

Thank you,

Federal and state refunds come from completely separate entities,  There is no rule as to which one will come first or how much time there will be between their arrivals.

TurboTax gives you an estimated date for receiving your refund based on a 21 day average from your date of acceptance, but it can take longer.

Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control. TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.

You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 20 of your Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:

To track your state refund:

On the IRS site you are also offered the use of an app called IRS2Go

If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing.
