Why does TurboTax require sending printed 1040X after e-filing successfully

Hi! I just e-filed my 1040X 2024 return with TurboTax Desktop. After e-filing federal and state, it brings me to the following screen. I do not have additional supporting documents to mail. Do I have to mail my printed forms also or is this just a precautionary screen?

Thanks!

Once you have successfully e-filed the tax return, there is nothing that you need to mail.

Thanks! So what is the purpose of that confusing screen?

Not sure why you would have that screen.  What forms, specifically, is the program requesting you to print and mail.

This is the screen that shows up after successfully e-filing the federal and state amendment forms. That is why it says - "Even though you e-filed, you are still required to print and mail these forms".

"these forms" doesn't mean the 1040X you just efiled but some other forms may be needed to mail.

Edit:  I'll defer to others

Go by the actual 1040X.   Line 18 should be your original refund amount and line 22 should be your additional refund.   If you paid on your original return it will be on line 16. If there is an amount owed with the amendment, it will be on line 20.

Ignore any 1040V voucher that prints out and the new 1040. Those are what your return would have been if you had not needed to amend.

Form 1040-X becomes your new tax return.

Do not e-File and Mail the same return. that puts you in a bad position.

If IRS needs attachments that TurboTax was unable to include, they will contact you.
