Why does nothing work? e-file = ”cancelled” error message; print to mail = closes; save to PDF: “it seems some problem while retrieving print list details for Returns.”

I completed the process"Remove TurboTax 2018 and reinstalled.  Upon launch the program downloads 'critical' update, but will not install and relaunch.  Program closes and tax file cannot be opened at all.  Next tip?

I am starting 2018 TT program from applications. Have no broadband, using iPhone as hotspot for internet connection now and previously with TT w/o prior problem. phone and computer have been restarted to clear.  Still can't get past critical update and actually open the completed tax file.  Need a solution soon. Next steps?

Is the 'critical' update download saved to a MAC directory where it can be found and then manually installed?

I tried the library files purge again and another install - 3rd time was the charm.  Thanks for the assistance.
