Go all the way through your Colorado return, past the Income section, past the Credits section, and continue until you see a screen with the title, Qualifying for the Colorado Sales Tax Refund.  Answer the next two questions and the amount will be included on your return.

It looks to me slightly different:  you have to go into the "Other Situations" section, then "Other situations-Sales Tax Refund" (which is odd because that's not really what the TABOR refund is), and THEN you see the "Qualifying for the Colorado state sales tax refund" screen and two  questions (although the tax form itself has 3 questions, which is confusing)

The CD/download version and the Online version of TurboTax often have somewhat different wording and navigation.

Because they are usually similar enough, though, we tend to answer for one (to save time, and also because we don't know which product you have) and trust that it will be close enough for you to figure it out.

We are glad that you got your TABOR refund.

I've gone through my TurboTax return numberous times looking at all my inputs .  I have yet to find anything that suggests I can check my status for the Tabor refund for the state of Colorado. If I save my return to a PDF file, the state return printed by Turbo Tax line is blank. So where in the input section do I apply for my Tabor tax refund.

Open your CO state return and continue until you see a screen with the title, Qualifying for the Colorado Sales Tax Refund.  Answer the next two questions and the amount will be included on your return.

The TABOR refund will be factored into your annual tax burden, meaning if you're getting a Colorado tax refund, you'll get even more. If you owe tax to the state, then you'll owe less. The amount of Tabor refund is reported on your DR 0104, Colorado Individual Income Tax Return Line 35

Also, Tabor refunds are distributed to taxpayers based on their adjusted gross income:

  • Incomes up to $53,000: $177 for single filers / $354 for joint filers
  • $53,001 to $105,000: $240/$480
  • $105,001 to $166,000: $277/$554
  • $166,001 to $233,000: $323/$646
  • $233,001 to $302,000: $350/$700
  • $302,001 and up: $565/$1,130

I accidently submitted my Colorado Return without addressing the Tabor Refund. Is there a way to file an amended return or something else? Thanks!

TABOR now requires you to submit the information with your state return. You will need to file an amended state return to make the claim.

It appears that the Turbotax did not include my Tabor Sales Tax refund in my Colorado return. How do amend the Colorado return to include this?

Take a look at the instructions below to learn how to amend your state return.

After you have started your amended return, go all the way through your Colorado return, past the Income section, past the Credits section, and continue until you see a screen with the title, Qualifying for the Colorado Sales Tax Refund.  Answer the next two questions and the amount will be included on your return.

This should be considered a bug. The Colorado tax form very clearly labels it the TABOR refund yet TurboTax only refers to the "Colorado Sates Tax Refund". TurboTax needs to issue a patch that uses that same language as the tax form. Too many people are having to submit amended returns because of this.
