There's no way to know.  Only the IRS determines that.  The "5 day early" thing is based on the idea that, if you look at "where's my refund", there will be a day when it says "refund approved -- payment expected on X".  You are supposed to get your advance 5 days before X, but it will never be before the IRS approves it, and the IRS can take as long or as short as they want.

Since the IRS does not officially open for e-filing until January 29 (even though Turbotax is accepting returns now), the earliest deposit date is probably around February 19, so the 5 days early might be Feb 14, but there is no guarantee.

And....another factor to be mindful of is the PATH act.   If you are getting earned income credit or additional child tax credit, the IRS holds your refund until at least February 15 before they can even issue it.

As stated earlier ---- TurboTax never knows or has any control over how long the IRS will actually take to process your return,  whether your return will be delayed by going under review, having to verify identity, etc.  so that "5 day early" hope might have been a waste of $25.

I E-filed on 1/19. The IRS says it was accepted and approved 1/21. Says it will be sent to my bank accound by 1/29. seems like the IRS was accepting returns a week early. So if you count 1/22 as the first day, then 5 business days would be 1/28. Im assuming if its sent 1/29 like the IRS says then i wont be charged $25 as thats 6 days after it was approved, But wouldnt I have recieved my return last week if the whole 5 day early thing was actully legit?

Here is more information on the 5 Day Early option: 5 Days Early

Please note: If your federal refund is deposited into your selected bank account less than 5 days before the IRS refund settlement date (the date it would have arrived if sent from the IRS directly), then you will not pay the 5 Days Early fee.
