What is form 4868

Form 4868 is the request for a 6 month extension for filing the tax return after the due date of 04/15/2024.  The request is only for filing the tax return not for payment of taxes owed which are due and payable on 04/15/2024

An extension to file if you can't file by April 15.  It gives you a 6 month extension to Oct 16.
