The questions for the recovery rebate credit are in Federal Review.
Thank you... I did finally find it on my own and now I have another question. I already filed with the incorrect information and my return was accepted. I've never had to file an amended return before so I'm not sure how it works. I was expecting to see everything that had been in my previous return LESS the $2800, but when I went through the process in TurboTax it came back saying that I owed $2800. I'm confused.
@mammabear1059 No do not amend. You just have to wait for the IRS to fix your mistake. By answering incorrectly about the stimulus amount you received you put an amount on line 30 of your Form 1040. The IRS checks that line. They know how much they sent to you. They will reduce your refund by that amount. This will delay your refund so expect a wait.
If you filed with a wrong amount on line 30 for the 3rd Stimulus payment Recovery Rebate Credit you do not need to amend. The IRS will automatically correct that and reduce your refund or send you a bill. Just wait and see what the IRS does.
