Stimulus check

I claimed myself when I filed my taxes in 2019 but my mom was able to claim me as a dependent on hers taxes somehow and now I’m not sure if I’ll get a stimulus check or not

No.  You will not be eligible to receive a stimulus check.

Part of the ineligibility occurs if you can be claimed as a dependent regardless of if you are or not.

As your mom could have claimed you, you would not be able to receive a stimulus payment.

Please see the link below to more details on who is eligible and who is not.

But should she have been able to claim me as a dependent if I filled my own taxes and claimed myself?

It depends.

They can claim you as a dependent if:

  • You are related to them
  • You aren't claimed by someone else
  • You're a US citizen, resident alien, national, or Canadian or Mexican resident
  • You aren't filing a joint return with a spouse
  • You're under 19 or 24 years old if you are a full time student
  • You live with them for over half of the year (except for temporary absences for college)
  • You didn't provide more than half of your own support
